The (Paddle Channel) way seems to working, came in 3rd overall, and someone who I’ve battled with over the years, always having close finishes, I beat by 2 minutes.
The training really paid off. I signed up for the “ultra performance”, stuck with the plan. And wow. Felt great for the full 22.5 miles.
I’ve been on the Elite Performance Long Distance Training Plan. I am incredibly happy with how strong I was during this race. First on SUP, 15th overall ( behind a bunch of skis, two OCs, and an unlimited proner).
I used the Ultra Distance “Go-the-Distance” Plan. I like to do long races and this is the second time I used the plan, but first time for Chattajack. I beat everyone my age or older with the exception of one person. They were an Olympian, so I did not feel too bad about that.

This training is working. I am not overtrained, yet there has been enough interval work to keep me ready for fast efforts. Paddle Channel training is individualized with my target race in mind. The platform helps me track my weekly mileage and helps me avoid overtraining.
I have probably completed 8 different (Paddle Channel) training programs covering race distances between 8 to 20+ miles for OC1, OC2 and OC6. I know for a fact the programs have improved all aspects of my paddling fitness and knowledge. Having been an habitual over-trainer in my younger years, these programs took all the guesswork out…
