Greg Greene’s Top Three Downwinding Tips for New and Developing Paddlers

Greg shares his top 3 tips for paddlers who are developing their downwind skills. Greg has paddled all over the world (the Gorge, South Africa, Tarifa and Hawaii, to name a few) and he offered these three tips:

  1. Paddle a stable boat. This tips is applicable for surfski, standup paddleboard and outrigger (don’t rig too lightly).
  2. Don’t paddle too hard. Time your efforts and be selective about the waves you try to catch.
  3. Don’t just ride…plan your next move. The real fun in downwinding starts when you start to connect the bumps, one after the other!
